Content creator Vincent Kaluma, aka Kaluma Boy, has been awarded a full scholarship by The East African University.

Vincent Kaluma, popularly known online as Kaluma Boy, has received a life-changing opportunity after his touching story went viral. The young man, who became known for taking care of his ailing father alone, has been awarded a full scholarship at The East African University (TEAU).

The announcement was made by Bishop Muthee Kiengei during a church service at JCM Church in Ruiru. He revealed that TEAU’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Christopher Mutembei, confirmed the scholarship offer personally.

“Dr Mutembei has confirmed that Kaluma Boy has been granted a full scholarship to study a degree in Sales and Marketing at The East African University,” Bishop Kiengei said. “This opportunity will help him sharpen his digital marketing skills. Soon, we will all celebrate his graduation.”

Following his emotional story shared online, Kenyans from all walks of life turned up at his home on Sunday, September 28, bringing donations, food, and encouragement. Many praised him for balancing his father’s care while hustling on local farms to cover medical expenses.

The scholarship and the public support have opened a new chapter for Kaluma, who had previously struggled to make ends meet.

Speaking after the fundraiser, Kaluma expressed heartfelt appreciation to all who stood by him.

“I thank Kenyans for supporting me. You have changed our lives, and may God bless you all,” he said.

He revealed that his father had suffered a stroke in August 2024, which left him bedridden and in need of constant attention. Despite the hardships, Kaluma remained positive, believing that his father would recover soon.

Kaluma’s mother, Beatrice Wangechi, couldn’t hide her emotions as she thanked well-wishers for their kindness.

“I saw wonders I have never seen before,” she said tearfully. “This has shown me the power of talent and mobile phones. God bless everyone who helped us.”

Located in Kitengela, Kajiado County, The East African University is a chartered private institution accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE). The scholarship will allow Kaluma to advance his education while continuing to inspire others through his story of resilience and faith.
