A rare Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant signed basketball card has sold for £9.56m ($12.9m).
The Jordan-Bryant Dual Logoman Autographs card, produced by Upper Deck in the 2007-08 season, was sold by Heritage Auctions in the US. It had been privately owned for more than a decade before being put under the hammer.
After fierce bidding, the card more than doubled its expected value, highlighting the strength of demand for rare sports memorabilia.
Chris Ivy, Heritage’s director of sports auctions, called the card “the pinnacle” for modern collectors.
“Another one can’t be created. It has always been looked at as the holy grail,” Ivy told ESPN.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls, is widely regarded as basketball’s greatest-ever player. Bryant, a five-time NBA champion with the LA Lakers, remains one of the sport’s most iconic figures. He tragically died in a helicopter crash in 2020.
