Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has sent his condolences to the family and friends of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, stating that he knew him for 33 years.

Kuria, who was speaking on December 27, 2025, also said that he is willing to buy a torch that will be used to bury the former MP who also served as a minister.

“I am willing to buy the torch that will be buried along with Jirongo. We must know the truth. He died under unclear circumstances and I believe that if there was no foul play, then I believe that no one should be worried,” Kuria said.

He spoke after a section of Luhya elders suggested that the former member of parliament should be laid to rest with a torch to deal with the suspects who were involved in his death, in case of a foul play.

According to reports, the former member of parliament died in a tragic road accident on December 13, 2025, on Nairobi-Nakuru road at Karai in Naivasha, after his vehicle collided with a bus, killing him on the spot.
