Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has expressed concern over a growing trend of young men sending her unsolicited and inappropriate messages online.

The outspoken legislator revealed that her inbox has recently been flooded with private and explicit photos from men claiming they want to impress her or win her attention.

Millie shared that the behavior has left her concerned about the direction in which today’s youth are going, especially those who appear far too young to be making such advances.

She explained that some of the senders are young enough to be her grandchildren and boldly send images and videos that no public figure, or any woman for that matter, should be subjected to without consent.

According to Millie, the messages often come with bold claims and attempts to lure her, something she finds disrespectful and uncalled for.

She expressed disappointment, noting that the lack of boundaries among some youths shows a deeper societal issue that needs to be addressed.

She wondered if such a trend was due to substance abuse or breakdowns in parenting, citing that most young people do not know the importance of respect, particularly towards the elders.

Millie encouraged parents and guardians to take a leading role in educating their children on matters of conduct, respect for others, and responsible use of social media.

The MP also urged the youths to work on building themselves, rather than getting attention in the wrong ways.

She noted that public figures are often exposed to harassment online, but the recent wave of unsolicited explicit messages crossed the line, which is not being taken lightly.

Millie’s remarks have sparked conversations online, where many Kenyans are supporting her call for better digital etiquette and stronger values among the youth.
