DCP announces a massive peaceful procession from JKIA through Nairobi CBD to Kamukunji Grounds.
The DCP party has confirmed plans for a grand procession to welcome former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua back to the country. According to deputy party leader Cleophas Malala, Gachagua will jet into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at noon.
The welcome event will see thousands of supporters march from JKIA, pass through the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), and converge at Kamukunji Grounds for a major rally where Gachagua is expected to address the nation.
DCP has emphasised that the procession will be peaceful and inclusive, urging supporters to turn up in large numbers. Organisers say the event is expected to be among the biggest political gatherings in recent months, underlining Gachagua’s growing influence since his return from international engagements.
Reports by The Standard indicate that his trip abroad has fueled speculation about his political strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Analysts suggest that the Kamukunji rally could provide a platform for Gachagua to issue key declarations regarding his political future. Kamukunji Grounds has historically hosted major political announcements, and many observers believe Gachagua could use the stage to position himself against President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza dominance.
