Old man was released from prison after serving 40 years, marking an emotional moment of freedom. In a video, the old guy was fetched up by his family from Embu Main Prison, while two wardens bid him farewell.
Online responses included empathy, worry for the man’s well-being, and comments on the impact of spending decades in prison.
In an emotive video, the now-free man appears astonished, as if overwhelmed by the experience of liberation after so many years in prison.

He donned a grey suit, a pink shirt, a navy blue cap, and brown footwear. Picked out by his family from Embu Main Prison, the elderly guy stood alongside a man who appeared to be his son, holding his hand.
They spoke briefly with the prison wardens while waiting for his trip home. As the black sedan approached, one of the wardens opened the door for him, while the other assisted him into the car.
He gently took his position on the co-driver’s side of the black car, absorbing the reality of his new life as a free man.
He didn’t say anything, but his expression was one of shock and confusion. Netizens react as an elderly guy exits prison.
Social media users offered mixed feelings, with some noting on his obvious perplexity and others recognizing the complexities of his release after so many years.
Reactions: Maureen Ryna responded: “I thought 40 years in prison was equivalent to 20 years.” Terry Cherryl: “This suggests he was arrested when he was quite young… he appears a little bewildered.
He’s out of jail now, but 40 years is a long time.” Bernard ARTS Photography: “I do not believe this is how it was supposed to be. He should have arrived home a long time ago. “I believe this is why Kenya will never have peace.”
