DAP-K supporters are openly inviting Edwin Sifuna to join the party after his ODM exit, sparking fresh debate about his political future ahead of 2027.

Fresh political talk is building after the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) publicly welcomed the idea of Edwin Sifuna joining its ranks following his removal as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General.

The buzz began after a viral social media post from one of Sifuna’s supporters declared “Karibu Nyumbani,” portraying DAP-K as a new political home for leaders seen as bold, reform-minded, and independent.

The message quickly spread across political forums, fueling speculation about Sifuna’s next move.

Although Sifuna has not confirmed any intention to switch parties, supporters argue that his outspoken stance on national issues aligns with DAP-K’s reform branding.

The party, led by former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, has positioned itself as a movement for renewal under its “Mwamko Mpya” slogan.

DAP-K officials say the party is open to leaders who share its vision, even as they maintain that its growth is not tied to any single figure.

Still, insiders admit that Sifuna’s popularity  particularly among younger voters could boost the party’s national reach.

His removal from ODM came during a National Executive Committee meeting in Mombasa, where party leaders cited indiscipline and failure to align with collective decisions.

Catherine Omanyo was appointed acting Secretary General as ODM begins the process of filling the role permanently.

Sifuna’s exit followed internal tensions over the ODM-UDA cooperation framework, which he had publicly questioned. While some party loyalists defended the decision, critics say it risks alienating reform-leaning supporters.

Political analysts now believe Sifuna’s next step could influence opposition realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Whether he joins DAP-K, forms new alliances, or charts an independent path, the growing “Karibu Nyumbani” calls suggest opposition politics is entering a new phase.
