Chelsea came from behind to beat West Ham 5-1 at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham initially took the lead through Lucas Paqueta, whose brilliant long-range strike gave the home side hope. Chelsea, however, quickly turned the game around.
Joao Pedro opened Chelsea’s scoring from a corner, followed by goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez, establishing a commanding 3-1 lead by the 34th minute.
With Cole Palmer ruled out before kick-off due to a precautionary injury, Estevao made his Premier League starting debut. The Brazilian teenager showed his pace and skill, setting up Fernandez for Chelsea’s third goal.
New goalkeeper Mads Hermansen struggled throughout the match, contributing to Chelsea’s fourth and fifth goals. Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah capitalised on his mistakes, leaving West Ham fans frustrated and many leaving Stamford Bridge early.
The win lifts Chelsea to the Premier League summit for the first time in nearly two years. Joao Pedro continues his fine start at Chelsea following the Club World Cup triumph, scoring his first Premier League goal for the club.
Despite the strong start, manager Graham Potter remains under pressure after only one win in two league games, following a shocking 3-0 defeat to Sunderland last weekend.
Chelsea will look to maintain momentum while Potter seeks to steady a squad eager to defend its title ambitions amid a difficult start to the season.
