Brighton eliminated as Man City run riot to send Arsenal title message.

Thursday night, Manchester City advanced further in their quest for a Premier League championship, with Brighton’s disastrous defense providing support.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Danny Welbeck appears sad.
When Brighton played Manchester City, they played a part in their own demise.

Brighton has been under fire for their immature style of play, which allowed Manchester City to defeat them.

On Thursday night, the Seagulls carried not only the dreams of their usual followers but also the supporters of Arsenal and Liverpool.

With two games remaining, City, who began the evening four points behind the Gunners and one ahead of the Reds, were still favorites to win the title.

There was very little chance Roberto De Zerbi’s team could pull off a miracle against City going into the game, since they had only won four of their previous 17 league games due to a devastation of injuries.

Those aspirations were soon dashed as Pep Guardiola’s team scored three goals in the first half to demonstrate their dominance.

Before Phil Foden added a second goal from a deflected free kick, Kevin De Bruyne stooped to hook in a fantastic header for a 1-0 lead. However, the third goal was what truly infuriated supporters of Arsenal or Liverpool, or those who were simply hoping for a title fight.

Before Valentin Barco’s pass was intercepted by Bernardo Silva, dangerous passes inside their own penalty area were completed by Carlos Baleba and Jason Steele.

Foden had the ideal bounce and finished the game with a stroke into the bottom corner.

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith responded to the goal as follows on his co-commentary for Sky Sports: “Brighton gave away one pass too many. When they begin playing five-a-side in their own box, you can sense the anxiety in the stadium.

“That was Phil Foden at his most deadly. When the City is closing you down in such numbers, there are two types of people: brave and foolish.

Foden touches it into the alcove. The worst man you could ever give a chance to is this one.”

Ben Mee, a defender for Brentford, said something similar on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Some excellent players, but they’re not playing well right now for Brighton.”

You respect their fearlessness on the ball, but sometimes you have to make adjustments when things aren’t going your way. You can’t be committing errors in your own end as they have when behind 2-0.
