Bentley’s 2025 Bentayga Speed sets Goodwood hill climb record for ICE SUVs
The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed roared to life with a record-breaking run from Bentley’s latest beast—the Bentayga Speed. Completing the iconic hill climb in just 55.8 seconds, the SUV shattered the previous ICE-powered SUV record, and did it in wet conditions.
Piloting the vehicle was Bentley’s own Andy Marson, a vehicle dynamics expert who pushed the performance SUV to its limits after a pre-race shower slicked the course.
“To achieve this time on a wet surface shows just how far we’ve taken performance and stability in the new Bentayga Speed,” said Marson after the run.
Under the hood, the new Bentayga Speed carries a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering 650hp and 850Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, topping out at 310km/h.
But speed isn’t its only strength. Bentley engineers have fine-tuned the SUV’s handling for sharp performance. Key updates include: A newly reworked Sport mode15% stiffer suspension for better road feel, calibrated ESC Dynamic setting Sports exhaust system for a more aggressive sound profile
The result? A luxury SUV that doesn’t just look the part, it drives like a true performance machine.
Despite the slick tarmac, the Bentayga Speed beat the dry-track record set by its W12 predecessor, making this run even more impressive. It proves Bentley’s commitment to squeezing every drop of performance out of the internal combustion platform before moving fully electric by 2030.
As the industry shifts toward EVs, Bentley’s 2025 Bentayga Speed stands as a reminder that petrol-powered performance still has moments of brilliance left. This record-setting run wasn’t just a feat of engineering—it was a final, thunderous statement from an icon.
