Arsenal Open Contract Talks With Jurrien Timber After Impressive Return

Arsenal begin talks to extend Timber’s deal beyond 2028.

Arsenal have started discussions with Jurrien Timber over a new long-term contract. The Netherlands international has impressed Mikel Arteta and his staff with consistent performances, and the club want to secure his future at the Emirates.

Timber joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2023 for £34.4m but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the opening game against Nottingham Forest. That setback ruled him out for almost the entire season.

He returned strongly, making 51 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign and is now the first-choice right-back in Arteta’s plans.

The 24-year-old’s current contract runs until 2028, but Arsenal want to reward his progress and ensure he stays longer. Talks remain in the early stages, though all parties are said to be positive about reaching an agreement.

Arsenal are also working on a new deal for Bukayo Saka, with optimism around an extension. Key defender William Saliba has already committed his future by signing a new five-year contract earlier this year.
