A poorly controlled challenge by Edoardo Corvi left the AC Milan and England international stunned on Sunday evening. Tests revealed several fractures in his jaw.
The incident could have gone viral thanks to Alexis Saelemaekers’ rabona , but unfortunately, the impact suffered by Ruben Loftus-Cheek understandably caused concern. On Sunday evening, during AC Milan ‘s 1-0 defeat against Parma, the 30-year-old midfielder was stretchered off after a brutal collision with the opposing goalkeeper.
From a Saelemaekers cross, Loftus-Cheek rushed forward to head the ball, but he was struck full force by Edoardo Corvi, whose skull hit the England international’s jaw. Loftus-Cheek collapsed, his head hitting the side of a Parma defender as he fell.
Two teeth and the alveolar bone affected
He was immediately attended to and stretchered off the pitch. “Following further examinations, Ruben Loftus-Cheek did not suffer a concussion or loss of consciousness. However, the impact caused fractures to his upper teeth and maxillary alveolar bone. He will undergo surgery,” AC Milan later announced. Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Londoner will be sidelined for several months.
On Instagram, Corvi simply wished him a “speedy recovery” after his chaotic exit in the 6th minute of the Serie A matchday 26 game. The Milanese defeat left the Lombardy side 10 points behind their neighbor Inter, the leaders of the Italian Championship.
