More than 10 people lost their lives after a small passenger plane crashed and caught fire today, Friday, in Kenge, the capital of Kwango province.
The accident in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo #RDC, local media reported, citing provincial authorities.
The aircraft, a Let L-410 Turbolet, crashed after encountering difficulties while attempting to land, according to the provincial government.
The pilot’s body was recovered outside the location where the plane’s wreckage was found, and it is believed that several passengers died burned to death after the aircraft burst into flames.
The plane had flown in circles over Kenge several times in search of a place to land before striking a residential complex. “Fortunately, none of the complex’s residents were injured.”
Authorities said that military personnel were on board the aircraft. Saki called for an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the crash.
