Maureen Atieno, elder sister to the late Rachael Adhiambo who was brutally killed on Monday 22, December 2025, in Magawa, West Sakwa area near Maranda, has revealed to the public stern warning she gave to the deceased before she breathed last.

While making her revelation, Maureen Atieno indicated that on the fateful day that her sister was killed, she was travelling from Nakuru where she had gone to grace a graduation ceremony of her female colleague, and was headed to their rural home in Got Agulu, Siaya county. That day, Rachael Adhiambo had secured a lift in a private car.

On the other hand, Maureen was seeking to travel from Vihiga county hoping that she would meet with her sister Rachael in Kisumu town, so that they would use a common means to connect to the village.

However, by 10 PM, Rachael was already in Kisumu and she was vividly seeking to get to get to the village to be with her other family members. As a result, she booked a 14- seater Matatu that dropped her in Bondo at 11 PM.

Being late in the night, Rachel called her elder sister Maureen and informed her that she was already in Bondo but was seeking to take a motorbike to drop her home in the village because it was already late.

According to Maureen, she warned Rachel against using a motorbike at that hour of the night, because she (Maureen) was hoping that she would also be in Bondo within some few minutes to enjoin her.

However, Rachael boarded a motorbike and what transpired thereafter is still a mystery. Efforts by her family members to trace her whereabouts proved futile after all the calls they made trying to reach her remain unanswered.

The search for Rachael continued until dawn, where her lifeless body was discovered in a thicket, nearly 200 M from Usenge – Bondo road before police officers were contacted who went to collect her body and transferred it to the mortuary.
