Pastor Victor Kanyari made a public appearance with his two children, Sky and Danny, just a day after the burial of their mother, gospel singer Betty Bayo.

There has been much discussion about who would take care of the children following Betty’s death, and Kanyari aimed to show he is involved in their lives.

To clarify his role, Kanyari shared screenshots of messages from Betty in which she requested financial help for their kids.

In the messages, she asked for money for their daughter’s medical expenses and their son’s school fees.

One message included a request for KSh 40,000 for a visa and KSh 20,000 for a summer camp, indicating a significant amount of financial support was needed.

On November 20, thousands came together for Betty Bayo’s funeral, with many Kenyans promising to help her children.

Notably, President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua contributed KSh 10 million each to support them.

This financial support has raised concerns about the children’s custody, with Kanyari eager to prove that he has been providing for them.

The day after the funeral, Kanyari and his children were seen in Kamatuto, Njiru.

They waved to the crowd from the sunroof of Kanyari’s vehicle, where locals and church members celebrated by singing “Simba, Kanyari!” Sky clapped along while her younger brother, Danny, joined in the fun.

A video shared by Kanyari showed this joyful moment, highlighting their family bond.

Many Kenyans took to social media to comment on Kanyari’s public appearance.

Some pointed out that Sky’s hairstyle suggested they had just come from a funeral, leading to questions about what the celebration was for Comments varied from supportive messages to expressions of confusion about Kanyari’s actions.

Sky, 13, and Danny, 9, both attend Woodcreek School in Kiambu County, which follows the British curriculum. Sky is likely in Year 7, while Danny is in Year 2.
