Shalkido’s father recounts the painful moments before his son’s fatal accident.
The father of the late musician Shalkido has spoken for the first time since his son’s tragic death, sharing an emotional account of their last moments. Fighting back tears, he revealed that the family had planned to spend time together that day, unaware it would be their final moment of joy.
“Sina mtoto mwingine,” he said painfully. “I have lost my only child.”
He described their bond as inseparable, recalling how Shalkido often shared his dreams of using music to inspire others.
“He had big dreams,” his father said softly. “But all of that ended in a split second.”
The grieving father also spoke about Shalkido’s mother, calling her a strong and prayerful woman who supported her son unconditionally.
“She was always proud of him,” he said. “Every day she prayed for his success and safety. Now, her pain is beyond words.”
He said the family is struggling to come to terms with the loss, describing the silence in their home as “unbearable.”
Addressing the rumours that have circulated online, Shalkido’s father firmly denied any claims of foul play. He clarified that his son’s death was the result of a genuine road accident and urged Kenyans to stop spreading false information.
“People should respect our pain,” he said. “This is not something to gossip about. My son deserves dignity, even in death.”
Friends, fans, and fellow artists have continued to honour Shalkido’s memory, praising his humility, energy, and love for music. The young Gengetone artist, known for his role in Sailors Gang, touched many through his creativity and vibrant personality.
As the family prepares for his final send-off, grief remains heavy.
“I have lost a son, a friend, and my hope,” his father said through tears. “The emptiness he has left behind can never be filled. All I ask now is that people let him rest in peace.”
