Oga Obinna Calls for Compassion Amid Conspiracy Theories Surrounding Shalkido’s Death

Oga Obinna has urged fans to stop spreading conspiracy theories about Shalkido’s death.

Media personality Oga Obinna has spoken out against the growing number of conspiracy theories following the death of Gengetone artist Shalkido, urging Kenyans to focus on kindness instead of speculation.

Speaking on his show on Monday, October 6, 2025, Obinna addressed social media claims linking Shalkido’s passing to rituals or foul play, saying such talk disrespects the memory of the late musician.

“If you go to social media, you will see a lot of theories. I’ve seen people say Shalkido was sacrificed or that what happened to him was planned,” Obinna said.

He condemned those using the tragedy to gain attention online, pointing out that many fans expressing sorrow today never supported Shalkido when he needed help.

Obinna reminded his audience that love and appreciation should be shown before tragedy strikes, not after someone has passed away.

“I like to give people their flowers when they’re alive. After someone is gone, there’s not much you can do. When someone is alive, that’s when they need you the most,” he said.

He urged fans to check on friends and family who may be struggling instead of waiting until their stories end in grief.

“Take it upon yourself to support our brothers and sisters while they are still here,” he added.

Obinna expressed gratitude for having shared moments with Shalkido, saying he was thankful to have played a positive role in his life.

“I am grateful to God for giving me a chance to be part of Shalkido’s life, even for a short time,” Obinna said.

Shalkido, whose real name was Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, passed away on Monday evening after a motorbike accident along Thika Road.

He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where doctors battled to save his life before he was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.

In a TikTok video, Shalkido’s cousin confirmed the news alongside his father, saying the family had accepted the heartbreaking update from doctors.

“It is a sad evening. We have just received a report from the doctor that Shalkido died at 6:30. Let us come together and stand with this family,” the cousin said.

Following his death, the family moved his body to the morgue as tributes poured in from fellow artists, friends, and fans mourning the loss of a young talent whose music helped shape Kenya’s Gengetone wave.
