Maseno University student Diana confesses to infecting students and lecturers with HIV.
Social media has been shaken by a post from Diana, a student at Maseno University. In her statement, she admitted to knowingly spreading HIV to fellow students and lecturers.
She claimed to have had sexual relations with 273 men since she joined the university in 2017, three of them being lecturers.
Diana went further to say she intends to infect at least 1,000 more people in the next four years. Her post, written in defiance, has attracted widespread condemnation online.
According to Diana, she was infected by her neighbour shortly after finishing high school. The bitterness of that experience, she said, pushed her to seek revenge by spreading the virus to others.
She insisted she feels no regret for her actions and even promised to reveal the names of those she has already infected.
Her confession has caused outrage both online and offline, with many calling her behaviour reckless and dangerous. Health experts have emphasised that such actions undermine years of effort in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
They have urged the public to practice safe sex, get tested regularly, and for infected individuals to seek treatment instead of spreading the virus deliberately.
