A 32-year-old Bungoma man allegedly impregnated his 43-year-old mother-in-law.
Residents of Bungoma were left stunned after news broke that a man had impregnated his mother-in-law. The 32-year-old, identified as Kelvin Wiliba, admitted to having an affair with the 43-year-old woman who had come to assist her daughter with childcare.
Kelvin’s wife, Nekesa, said she regretted her decision to bring her mother into their home. She explained that as a full-time worker with limited finances, she could not afford a househelp and instead turned to her mother for support.
“I thought my mother’s presence would help me manage, but now I feel betrayed,” Nekesa said.
Defending her actions, the mother-in-law admitted that she did not reject Kelvin’s advances. She revealed that being unmarried for a long time made her vulnerable.
“I have been single for years, and I was struggling with a dry spell. I could not resist Kelvin,” she confessed.
The matter has caused concern in the community, with local elders saying such an act is taboo. They have agreed to conduct a cleansing ritual to protect the family and the wider community from misfortune.
The incident comes only days after a similar case in Murang’a, where another man was reported to have impregnated his mother-in-law.
