Kaluma Boy went viral for sharing his journey of caring for his father, who suffered a stroke in 2024.

Kaluma Boy, a popular TikTok creator with over 259,000 followers, captured national attention by documenting his routine of nursing his father after a stroke left him bedridden. His father had been in a coma for three months in 2024, and the family has since faced heavy medical and emotional challenges.

On Saturday, convoys of matatus and bodabodas carried supporters from Othaya town to Kaluma’s rural home in Chinga. The gathering, described as a healing and restoration event, was organised to encourage the family and stand with them in their struggle.

The event followed weeks of online contributions through a paybill number. Kaluma had earlier explained that treatment costs, including catheter changes and physiotherapy sessions, could reach up to KSh 1,000 per day. Kenyans across the country came together to help alleviate the financial pressure.

Pictures and videos shared online showed a massive crowd at the homestead. Locals described it as one of the largest gatherings ever driven purely by social media influence in the area.

“It feels like a family, not just followers,” one supporter said, as many expressed how they connected with Kaluma’s story.

Kaluma has created an emotional bond with his audience by showing both struggles and joyful moments with his father. Many of his livestreams highlight laughter and warmth, even as the family navigates the reality of long-term illness.

To his fans, his father is no longer just a patient but a beloved figure affectionately known as “dad.”
