A 27-year-old man from Kisii has shocked Kenyans after publicly confessing that he has been in a sexual relationship with a banana tree.
The revelation came during the “Toboa Siri” segment on Radio Jambo’s reggae show hosted by Mbusii and Lion. His confession has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions across social media.
The man explained that his bizarre behaviour began after losing his uncle to HIV/AIDS. Terrified of contracting the disease, he avoided relationships with women but admitted he could not abstain from sex altogether.
Instead, he resorted to drilling a hole in a banana tree, claiming the act gave him both comfort and peace of mind.
Despite family pressure to marry, he insisted he had no interest in women.
“Mimi nimezoea kulala na mgomba wa ndizi. Sitaki wasichana kabisa, hao wanaweza niambukiza Ukimwi. Wazazi wamejaribu kuniambia nioe lakini wapi. Ile kitu hawajui ni ati niko na bibi yangu hii mgomba wa ndizi na huwa naskia vizuri sana,” he boldly declared.
The confession spread rapidly on TikTok and other platforms, with many Kenyans left in disbelief. Some expressed concern over the man’s mental state, while others dismissed it with humour, calling it one of the strangest stories of 2025 so far.
While many view the Kisii man’s confession as outrageous, it also reflects how fear and trauma can lead to unusual coping mechanisms. For him, however, the banana tree remains his chosen partner, and he insists he is perfectly satisfied with his unconventional lifestyle.
