Boniface Muchiri almost became a priest but chose football instead.

Boniface Muchiri’s story is one of bold choices. His parents and Bishop Sulumeti once enrolled him in a priesthood school in Maseno, hoping he would become a priest. But Muchiri’s heart was on the pitch. He left the seminary to chase his dream in football.

Muchiri began his football career at Nzoia Sugar. During the COVID-19 period, he even tried out in the USA but returned after six months. He later joined Tusker FC before becoming a KDF officer through Ulinzi Stars.

Today, the 29-year-old forward from Busia County is part of Ben McCarthy’s Harambee Stars squad playing in the CHAN tournament. His talent and hard work have already earned him millions and a spot as one of Kenya’s top players.
