No More Tickets! Fans Locked Out as Harambee Stars Fixtures Sell Out Early

All tickets for the Kenya vs. Angola and Kenya vs. Morocco matches are now fully sold. Fans will now have to follow the games on TV

Kenyan fans hoping to watch Harambee Stars live at Kasarani in their upcoming CHAN 2024 matches will now be forced to settle for TV coverage. Organisers confirmed that all match tickets for the Thursday game against Angola and Sunday’s clash with Morocco were bought out by Tuesday morning.

Both ticket categories — the Sh200 Ordinary and Sh500 Silver — were quickly snapped up, reflecting the same level of fan excitement witnessed during Kenya’s first match last weekend against DR Congo.

Kasarani Stadium, which once held 60,000 people, now accommodates 48,000 after undergoing major upgrades to meet CAF standards ahead of CHAN 2024.

The overwhelming demand shows how football fever has gripped the country, especially after Kenya’s stunning performance in their opening match.

The Harambee Stars started the tournament with a thrilling 1–0 victory over DR Congo. Austin Odhiambo’s goal just before halftime turned out to be the match-winner. This historic win was Kenya’s first-ever CHAN victory.

The squad, composed of local league players, showed character and belief as they outplayed the two-time champions in front of a roaring home crowd.

Coach McCarthy: “We Were Nervous But Brave”

“I’m proud of my team – many of them were stepping onto such a big stage for the first time,” said head coach Benni McCarthy.

“Beating one of the tournament favourites is massive for us. We were nervous at the start, but once the boys settled, they showed real bravery.”

“Austin Odhiambo showed great composure and skill to give us the lead just before the break. That was the perfect time to score – just when they thought we’d head in level.”

Kenya will now face Angola on Thursday, aiming for their second straight win. If they collect three more points, Harambee Stars will be one step closer to reaching the knockout stages — a big milestone for a debutant side.

Tickets for their last group-stage match against Zambia on August 17 are now available on CAF’s official ticketing website.
