Thomas Kingston, son-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin, dies at 45

A statement released on Tuesday by the family of Thomas Kingston announced his passing. According to the statement, “Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

In addition, a spokesperson from the palace also released a statement offering condolences to the Kingston family, stating that “The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”

Kingston died on Sunday in Gloucestershire, and although the cause of death is currently undetermined, no suspicious circumstances or other parties are involved. He worked as a director at Devonport Capital and had a bachelor’s degree in economic history from Bristol University, having previously worked at Schroders and Voltan Capital.

Kingston was married to Lady Gabriella, daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, in May 2019 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The couple had been engaged since September 2018.

The wedding was attended by many members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry.

Prior to his relationship with Lady Gabriella, Kingston had previously dated Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge.
