The police have launched a manhunt for the attackers who killed a 50-year-old security guard yesterday at the Taba mosque in Nkhotakota district.
Yakido Mkumba, the male, suffered injuries and passed away while undergoing treatment at Nkhotakota District Hospital, according to Paul Malimwe, the spokeswoman for the Nkhotakota Police Station.
Following his morning prayers, Mkumba was discovered by the mosque’s Sheikh Osman Azizi in a pool of blood within the building.
After telling a few individuals, he reported the issue to the police, he added.
Malimwe continued, saying the thugs fled with items worth K210,000.
The Nkhotakota Police Station Spokesperson stated that Yakido Mkumba was from Chikuse village in the Traditional Authority Kasumbu area of the Dedza district.
