Peter Dube, a fugitive murderer who has been at large for almost three years, was taken into custody at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
His arrest comes after he was deported from Mozambique, to which he was extradited from Ireland on the basis of false documents claiming he was a native of Mozambique.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Dube’s expulsion is an important turning point in the ongoing investigation into a number of major offenses. At 2:05 PM today, a group of ZRP officers met him at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
When Mozambican officials discovered Dube’s false documents while he was being held, they moved quickly to have him removed from the nation.
His arrest upon his return to Zimbabwe is related to a terrible incident that occurred in 2021, during which he is said to have shot three people during an argument, killing one of them and injuring his second wife.
Since the events, Dube, who is considered a fugitive, has been the target of constant pursuit.
Authorities in Mozambique were alert, even though he tried to avoid prosecution by forging identity documents, and as a result, he was eventually caught at the airport.
Dube, a businessman from Gweru, was wanted on suspicion of three murder counts, one attempted murder case, and breaking immigration regulations.
In Gweru in 2021, he was accused of shooting his second wife, her putative lover, and a female friend.
Dube moved to Ireland and filed for asylum there after assuming the identity of Xolile Mtsali and obtaining a passport in Eswatini.
He was first captured in Ireland and then sent to Mozambique for deportation.
