Flight crash kills Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima and 9 others

 

In his speech to the country, Chakwera revealed that no survivors had been found in the wreckage of the jet carrying the vice president and nine other people.

President Chakwera expressed his sympathies to the families of the victims of the crash as well as to the people of the country.

“I can only imagine how much pain and anguish you all must be having at this point in time,” remarked the president.

Chilima was characterized by Chakwera as a unique man of honor, a wonderful husband and parent, and a great patriot who has tirelessly served the country.

“Being deputized by him for the past four years is one of my greatest honors,” he declared.

The president referred to the other passengers on the aircraft as “great men and women of the nation,” noting that the loss of Lucas Kapheni, Chisomo Chimaneni, Shanil Dzimbiri, Dan Kanyemba, Abdul Lapukeni, Colonel Sambalopa, Major Selemani, and Major Aidin will be deeply felt by the people of Malawi.

Chakwera expressed his sincere gratitude to the Malawi Defence Force and all individuals engaged in the task of search and rescue.
Additionally, he expressed his appreciation to all previous heads of state for their promised support during these difficult times.
