A forger of a prophet who prayed over young girls was given an effective 45-year prison term for both attempted and actual rape.
The Phuthaditjhaba regional court in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, condemned the phony prophet Abram Rantsho from South Africa.
According to Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, a spokesman for the Free State police, the rape and kidnapping crimes happened between August 2021 and September 2023.
A man identifying himself as “China” approached the victim and began his fake predictions about her.
In the end, he stated, “The director of his company is in town and is looking for CVs from interested parties,” according to Kareli.
He went on to say that the accused tricked the victim into going to his Monotsha home, where he showed them around with a knife and told them to undress.
At knifepoint, he sexually assaulted her and then handed her cash so she could take a cab home.
Kareli went on to say that the false prophet resumed his activities on June 7, 2022, when he approached a 15-year-old girl at Phuthaditjhaba’s Maluti Crescent Mall, introduced himself, and began prophesying for her. He then lured the girl to his home by saying that he had a mirror there that he uses to see into the lives of his patients.
After taking a taxi to Monontsha together, he pulled out a panga, told the fifteen-year-old to undress, then sexually assaulted and freed her.
According to Kareli, on September 3, 2023, a 19-year-old victim was nearly sexually assaulted by a Rantsho after the latter approached her in a mall and made a job-related promise. “He stated that the director of his company was present and accepting resumes. After the victim consented to accompany him to meet the company director, he instructed her to enter the residence and remove her resume while feigning to be in conversation with someone else.
After going to another room, he got a knife once more and gave the victim the command to strip, according to Kareli. After escaping in her underwear, the victim asked a passing taxi driver for assistance and was driven to the Tseki police station, where all the cases were opened. Three days after the attempted rape case was reported, he was apprehended when one of the detectives noticed him at Tseki Court.
