Afro-pop phenomenon Zahara’s husband, Mpho Xaba, made the heartbreaking revelation that he is still covering her large medical bill, which came to R820,000, even though he was not included in her burial plans and does not know where she is buried. On December 11, 2023, Zahara—real name: Bulelwa Mtukukana—died during a three-week hospital stay in Johannesburg, south africa.
The businessman and engineer Xaba spoke candidly to Sunday World about the traumatic ordeal he went through at the hands of Zahara’s family.
Mpho Xaba complains
In his complaint, he said that he was harassed, excluded from the funeral program, and denied the opportunity to take part in any portion of his wife’s last goodbye.
After Xaba proposed to Zahara in March 2023 and the pair celebrated with a traditional lobola ceremony in November, the couple’s relationship was widely reported.
Sadly, Zahara died before they could complete the arrangements for their white wedding.
Just a few weeks before Zahara passed away, Xaba disclosed that he had paid lobola for her, which put him legally in charge of arranging for her funeral.
Declined to take her family to court
But in order to save her honor, he declined to take her family to court.
After being greeted with loving arms by Zahara’s family at first, Xaba expressed his hurt and dismay at being treated like an outsider.
He claimed that although her sisters had referred to him as “brother,” they soon turned against him following her death. He believes this was a desperate attempt on their part to hide their own financial difficulties, as he accused them of lying and trying to claim his possessions.
Even after the family betrayed him, Xaba has opted to focus on his recovery and has taken the high road.
He disclosed that in order to manage his sadness and suffering, he had months of treatment. Additionally, he thanked Zahara’s medical assistance, which paid R712,000 of her hospital bill, leaving him to pay the remaining sum.
Concerns over administration of Zahara’s estate
Concerns have been made over the administration of Zahara’s estate; her previous manager, Oyama Dyosiba, declined to address the matter further, directing all inquiries to her sisters, Bandezwa and Lumka, who had assumed responsibility for it. Dyosiba expressed his displeasure at the state of affairs, saying that Zahara’s family need to feel guilty for what they did.
Xaba’s bravery in sharing his story demonstrates his devotion to Zahara’s memory and his love for her. In spite of the family’s treachery, his altruistic decision to keep paying her hospital cost shows his dedication to upholding her legacy. Xaba’s narrative serves as a reminder of the value of kindness, forgiveness, and respect in the face of misfortune, while the music business laments the passing of a gifted performer.
Zahara’s husband said, “I don’t know where she is buried to this day.”
The South African singer Zahara’s family cut him off the day after her death last year, so Mpho Xaba, who married her a few weeks before she passed away, has admitted that he still does not know where she is buried.
After battling a liver condition, Zahara passed away on December 11 at a private hospital in Johannesburg. It has been stated that lobola was paid for the Afro-soul musician by Xaba, who proposed to Zahara in March of last year, just a few weeks prior to her passing.
Even though Zahara’s family had accepted him with kindness while she was still alive, Xaba claimed that when she died away, everything changed, he told Sunday World.
“I was totally ignored when it came to funeral planning. I was not consulted at all by [them]. My family and I were entirely ignored. Our viewpoints were irrelevant. Actually, we were not permitted to express any opinions,” he claimed. A businessman named Xaba said that unfavorable feelings against him had been stoked by Zahara’s sisters’ fabrications that he intended to seize her belongings.
“A dilemma is created by her family. Her sisters lied, they lied. They said, “I don’t know why, I was busy claiming Bulelwa’s properties.”
“I don’t know why people would assume that since Bulelwa’s house was about to go up for auction again; I have three properties. “And it was me who suggested that we leave that circumstance,” he remarked.
Zahara’s medical expenses
Xaba disclosed that he was still covering Zahara’s medical expenses even though he was sidelined.
“I’m still covering her medical expenses. Her hospital bills come to almost R820,000 in total. Thankfully, R712,000 of it was covered by medical aid. I have to pay the remaining amount.
“No one in the family is willing to pay for it. Obviously, he said, since all that matters to them is themselves and what they stand to gain from this. Televised Africa
