Two Jacob Zuma MK Party members fatally shot in Katlehong, South Africa

Over the weekend, two MK Party members were shot and killed in Katlehong.
One day before South Africans began casting special votes for the general elections, two MK Party (MKP) members were killed.
 
A suspect has been detained in connection with these murders.

The two were slain on Sunday night in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, according to Gauteng police.

According to reports, the two [MKP] members were shot and murdered at Thwala area after getting into a fight with ANC members.
One victim passed away right away, and the other was pronounced dead when they got to the hospital.
At the site, a knife and one pistol were found, According to police spokesperson Brig. Brenda Muridili, “part of the investigations will include determining the motive for the incident.”

The suspects will shortly appear in court. The shooting occurs a few days after Jossey Buthane, an ANC and former EFF member, was arrested on May 19 for attempted murder following a shooting in Juju Valley, Seshego, during a political campaign.

When the ANC and EFF conducted their campaigns in the same region, tensions in Juju Valley had risen.
A nine-year-old child was wounded in the head, and a 25-year-old male also suffered injuries in the incident.

Since then, as elections get underway, the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure has taken steps to reassure the public that it is “in charge and in control.” Lt-Gen Tebello Mosikili, the deputy national police commissioner, stated on Sunday, “We are confident we are ready for this next phase.” Tuesday at midnight marks the conclusion of political campaigning; anyone found to have continued campaigning after that time will have violated the Electoral Act.
