Vodacom’s forensic supervisor testified before the high court that someone had gotten a SIM swap for Senzo Meyiwa’s number and had made sixty-three outgoing and incoming calls the day following the murder.
A SIM switch involving the number of deceased soccer player Senzo Meyiwa was carried out hours after he was shot and killed while visiting his ex-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, according to testimony presented before the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Pinky Vythilingam, a Vodacom forensic supervisor, disclosed the details on Tuesday.
After taking the witness stand on Monday, Vythilingam started revealing Vodacom data.
Ronnie Sibanda, the state advocate, led her into evidence.
Sibanda questioned Vythilingam about the requirements and procedure for getting a SIM change.
In the meanwhile, the judge has mandated police security for the defense attorney in response to threats.
She clarified that the procedure entails visiting a Vodacom store or a store where SIM cards are sold and calling customer support.
“You will be asked approximately five questions and your ID number must be verified if you call in to perform a SIM swap. In addition, they’ll want to know the last five numbers you called, when you last added airtime, and how much it cost, the representative added.
She went on to say that obtaining a SIM swamp requires the confirmation of the aforementioned information.
She stated that Meyiwa’s number was obtained on October 27, 2014, one day following his death in Vosloorus.
The IMEI number has changed, as you can see if you look at the entries.
It was completed at 4:21 p.m. and was a successful SIM exchange, as you will see from the date, she stated.
She went on to say that Nikita Vester, an agent, performed the SIM exchange on behalf of a dealer at CelluCity in Benmore Gardens, Johannesburg.
Sibanda enquired as to whether she could determine whether the individual who requested the SIM switch had given an ID copy.
In response, Vythilingam said, “I can’t tell.”
Sibanda enquired, “Can you tell who requested the SIM swap?”
“I’m not sure,” she replied.
She went on to say that 63 calls were placed on the number after the SIM swap was completed and it was put into a Nokia 2330 Classic phone.
As we can see in the center of the screen, the first action involving the new card occurred on October 27 at 4:21 p.m. It was an incoming call that lasted for two seconds and came from a number that ends with 0401.Burtonpark was the location of the tower.
The following call, according to her, was an outgoing call that took 136 seconds to reach the Vodacom customer service line.
The three calls that followed were similar, but they came at different times.
On Wednesday, the trial will resume.
