Despite an “alleged deliberate” vehicle accident on Thursday night, former president Jacob Zuma is said to be in good spirits and getting ready to attend multiple church services.
The MK Party’s presidential candidate survived a car accident on Friday, the party revealed to the SABC and other news agencies through its head of elections in KZN, Musa Mkhize. It is suspected that this was a premeditated attempt on his life.
According to news sources, Zuma and his group was driving from Nkandla to eShowe to conduct a campaign stop for his uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party when Zuma’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle. Around ten o’clock on Thursday night, the incident happened.
According to Mkhize, Zuma and the team members who were in the same vehicle as him were taken from the site. Despite the near-tragic event, they were unharmed.
As the MK Party in KZN, we are urging the national commissioner and the head of the unit to act honourably and in accordance with their duties, as well as the police minister to do the right thing.
We need to feel protected, just like every other citizen of this nation. More still for the previous president. He is entitled to what is rightfully his.
We are aware that he is now endorsing the MK Party, putting him at more risk,” he remarked.
Zuma’s whereabouts and whether or not he had received medical attention were not disclosed by Mkhize; all that was stated was that the MK leader and the people he was traveling with were safe.
“Yes, they are safe and okay from a medical standpoint,” Mkhize continued.
The political environment is still heated as Zuma handles the fallout from the vehicle accident and the election dispute, which might have an impact on both the next elections and the overall political environment in South Africa.
