President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera presided over the funeral for the late Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri, the former First Lady of the Republic of Malawi.
Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda spoke on behalf of the President, expressing the President’s profound grief over Dzimbiri’s passing.
“The late Dzimbiri was a committed and industrious woman who possessed a keen interest in the advancement of women and children inside the nation. Malawi has lost a significant individual with her passing; we have lost a national treasure,” he remarked.
The Catholic Church held prayers and a requiem mass in honor of the deceased First Lady.
A sizable gathering assembled to honor the late Dzimbiri and see his farewell.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included former chief justice Richard Banda, presidents Bakili Muluzi and Joyce Banda, prominent government officials, political members from different parties, and religious leaders.
Dzimbiri, who was born on September 25, 1964, represented Balaka West as a member of parliament (MP) from 2014 to 2019.
On Friday, her bodsy would be interred at Senzani near Balaka.
