KISUMU, Siaya County police have begun to look into the death of Siaya High Court Presiding Judge Daniel Ogembo.
He was discovered dead in his home on Wednesday.
Later, the judge’s body would be found after his driver went to his house because he couldn’t reach him on the phone.
Investigation is underway
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed what happened and said that an investigation is underway to find out what caused the death, which will include autopsies.
The body was found in his house; that much is true. At this point, we can’t say much more because the police are still looking into it, he said.
The door was locked from the inside
Staff at the court say that the late Justice Ogembo worked until Tuesday night when the office closed. He was then driven home by the official car.
After calling his boss to let him know he had arrived at the property but not hearing back, the driver said he had gone to check on the door.
One police report says, “He found the door locked from the inside after many calls to his cell phone were not picked up.”
The driver then returned to the Judiciary’s Siaya office and told other employees what had happened. They then called the cops.
The judge’s dead body was found on his bed after the door lock was broken with the help of the cops.
