The Office of the Fourth President of Kenya claims that the staff have not been paid for a period of two years.
Speaking during a press briefing on Monday, the office Spokesperson Kanze Dena said she is not able to compound in totality how much all that is.
“Unfortunately we have not earned a salary for the last two years. I am not able to quantify how much it is that the former president has been able to spend because that includes fueling, the food we eat as staff, travel bills, electricity,” Kanze alleged.
She claimed that out of Sh655 million allocated to the office in the 2022/2023 financial year, the office has received only Sh28 million.
“That is approximately 4.4 per cent of the total budget that year and it excludes payment of salaries and medical insurance,” Kanze said.
She said nothing has hit the account of the retired president from the allocation.
“We can confirm that salaries have been paid as well as medical insurance but we cannot allude to how much it is,” she said.
Kanze further alleged staff intimidation and night calls at the office of Former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“There is unceremonial withdrawal and intimidation of staff via phone calls at midnight,” she alleged.
“They were being called at night but we also have to protect our people. Sometimes we get multiple calls of different instructions late at night,” she alleged.
