Comedian Fred Omondi passed away on the morning of Saturday, June 15th. Fred was the brother of comedian and activist Eric Omondi, Irene, and the late Joseph Omondi.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 6 am when the bodaboda Fred was riding collided head-on with a speeding bus.
The bus was traveling from Kayole to Nairobi CBD, while the bodaboda, which was on the wrong side of the road, was heading in the opposite direction.
The collision was fatal, and Fred Omondi died instantly at the scene.

On Saturday, his body was transferred from Mama Lucy Hospital to Chiromo Mortuary, where an autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Monday, June 17th.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 21st, at Citam Valley Road. Following the service, his body will be airlifted to Bondo, Siaya County, where he will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 22nd.

Police said Fred, formerly a member of the Churchill Show, died on the spot after a motorcycle he was on collided with a bus at around 6am near Caltex Petrol Station.
He was a ride pillion at the time of the accident. His rider was reported to be driving against the flow of traffic.
“The incident occurred today, 15/6/24 at around 6:00 am near Caltex Petrol Station, Kangundo Road, involving Motor Vehicle Operated by Forward Sacco from Kayole directions heading towards the CBD and a motorcycle from the opposite side on wrong side (consolidated bank) collided head-on,” read police report obtained by Capital News.

Meanwhile, TWO people died while nine others were injured in a road accident involving a Nissan Caravan commuter omnibus and a bicycle that was being ridden by a nine-year-old along Kadoma-Sanyati Road.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the accident which happened on Saturday.
“Two people were killed when a Nissan Caravan kombi with 18 passengers on board hit a juvenile (9) who was riding a bicycle. As a result, the kombi veered off the road to the left before overturning and landing on its left side,” the post read.
The accident occurred at the 80km peg along the Kadoma-Sanyati Road.
The commuter omnibus driver fled the scene and his whereabouts are not known.
