Brake failure caused a minibus that was carrying five people to crash down a deep gully in Chiweta, which is located in the Rumphi District.
The accident resulted in the deaths of all five persons.
The spokesperson for the Rumphi Police Department, that around seven additional individuals have incurred various injuries and are currently seeking treatment at the Rumphi District Hospital.
