The Emirates Field Hospital in Abéché, Chad, Has Received Over 9,000 Patients Since It Opened in April of Last Year
Since its launch on April 8th, the integrated Emirates Field Hospital in Abéché, Chad, has seen over 9,000 patients. The hospital offers medical care and treatment services to Sudanese refugees.
The UAE has been supporting the Sudanese people who have been living in tough conditions due to the conflict since early April 2023, in part by establishing the field hospital. Additionally, it backs Chad’s initiatives to address the humanitarian crisis and lessen the effects of the significant migration of Sudanese refugees into its borders.
The hospital, which came at a cost of more than $20 million, has departments dedicated to internal medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, and pediatrics. It also has several radiology departments, an emergency room, a lab, a pharmacy, and emergency medicine. In addition, the facility has 50 inpatient beds, 10 intensive care unit beds, and other medical specialties.
In addition to 12 medical support staff members and 41 non-medical support workers, the hospital employs 92 nurses and 22 doctors.
The United Arab Emirates persists in executing many endeavors in the domains of humanitarian aid, relief, and development to provide indispensable necessities for the Sudanese refugees in Chad and their receiving towns.
These include the upkeep and repair of schools, the drilling of wells, the delivery of food aid, the Emirates Field Hospital in Am-Djarass, and the illumination of marketplaces and highways. Furthermore, an aid coordination office has been established in Chad.
Remarkably, over the last five years, the UAE has given the friendly Republic of Chad nearly $467 million in aid, with over $100 million going toward supporting the refugees that Chad has accepted and helped.
