Succes Masra, the opposition leader and prime minister of Chad, has resigned in the wake of Mahamat Idriss Deby’s official declaration as the winner of the May 6 presidential election.
“In accordance with the constitution, I have today presented… my resignation and that of the transitional government, which has become irrelevant with the end of the presidential election of May 6, 2024, with known results” Masra stated on X (Twitter) on Wednesday,
Masra, a fierce junta opponent, was named prime minister of the interim administration in January 2024
Masra, a strong opponent of the junta, was appointed prime minister of the transitional government in January 2024, four months ahead of the poll, in a move to establish a positive relationship with the opposition.
